Resumé
Before setting up Hampson Studio, Tom had over 25 years' experience in strategic communications, branding, graphic design, editorial work, political analysis, public policy research and business development. He recently completed Shillington College’s highly-respected graphic design diploma.
Having read English Literature at Trinity College, Cambridge, Tom began his career running media communications – first at the British political think tank Demos from 1997 and then at the communications agency Hobsbawm Macaulay where he worked with social issues clients. Tom then founded the Press Company, a media communications and design consultancy, and ran it for eleven years.
He worked for the Fabian Society in Westminster as editorial director for six years, commissioning, editing and designing all Fabian books, policy reports, pamphlets and magazines as well as writing and speaking on behalf of the Society in print, online and on TV and radio.
In 2012, Tom became a partner at the policy communications agency Soapbox. As creative director he managed the 15-strong design team across two sites while running strategic design jobs and large branding projects. While running business development, he helped grow the company to over 30 people.
During this time he also launched and chaired the monthly WonkComms Breakfast Club seminars for policy communications professionals including chairing a special event at the Brookings Institution in Washington DC.
Tom is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
